50th Anniversary
March 23rd marks the 50th anniversary of the Alaska State Fire Marshal's office. The office of the Fire Marshal was established in 1955 by Territorial Governor Frank Heintzleman within the Department of Territorial Police. Upon statehood on January 3, 1959, the office was transitioned to the Division of Fire Prevention within the Department of Public Safety.
CGFR salutes the efforts of the State Fire Marshal's office!

Bundle Up!
By now I hope everyone has a pile of warm clothes by the front door or in their car to use if we have to go out on a call in this weather. Right now, going on even the least-life threatening type of ambulance call puts all of us in as much danger as crawling into a house fire would. The weather is, simply, brutal! It's been below -30 for the past 24 hours; below -40 for the past 12 hours; and it's forecast to drop to -50 in the valleys tonight! That -20 coming on Thursday is gonna feel great!!
Be sure to layer-up! Be sure to have warm head gear and good mittens! Be sure to use them!
Be sure to eat well so that you'll have what you need inside you to maintain your body warmth!
And if we get called out, remember to respect the icy roads! If it's foggy, slow down so that others can see you coming and so you can perform evasive manuevers if called for. Remember to keep an eye on each other onscene to ensure no one gets frost-nipped, or worse.
We'll need as many people as possible on fire calls & MVAs so that we can rotate crews in & out of rehab. We'll need to work smart & work fast so that we can do what needs to be done and then get everyone home safely again.
be warm, be safe
see ya on scene
Engine 45 UPDATE
After some unforeseen delays due to engineering requirements and the national steel shortage, the pump and body have been mounted on the International chassis at the KME factory. CGFR will be doing a final factory inspection in early February with an anticipated delivery in March. A formal acceptance test will be done upon arrival in Fairbanks.
One step closer to a Rescue Engine. Just a little longer and it will be a reality. We'll try to keep everyone posted.
CONGRATULATIONS ALL AROUND....
We here at Chena-Goldtsream Fire and Rescue are proud to announce the successful completion of the EMT I practical and written examinations to our members recently in class,........ and one other significant accomplishment by a member......
