Captain

Captain James Eighme comes to us from Southern California. He and his wife have been married for 21 years and have 3 kids – 2 daughters, ages 19 and 16, and one son, age 11. Captain Eighme has been a career firefighter for 25 years and a Captain for 16 of those years. Throughout these years he has been successful and accomplished many professional goals. He takes pride in writing seven IFSAC accreditations at his previous department. He also wrote and put into place a successful truck accreditation program and curriculum for Aerial Apparatus. He wrote many training programs for several departments throughout California and has taught at many of the area colleges. Captain Eighme is a certified instructor for California Firefighter I and II, NWCG certified wildland instructor and IFSAC instructor. He taught three academies and 120 cadets a year at his last department before moving to Alaska. Captain Eighme has helped many young men and women achieve their dreams of becoming firefighters and intends to continue that work at CGFR. He plans to be at CGFR for many years to come. He hopes to be as successful here as in his previous positions. Captain Eighme enjoys spending his off-time camping, hiking and fishing with his family. Captain Eighme thanks everyone at Chena Goldstream Fire & Rescue for welcoming him into his new Alaskan family.
